Here’s a lovely little guide from Braunton in 1969. Magic image on the front of 2 girls about to hit the waves. They have a lovely couple of boards and serious hairdos!
Like all these old school guides you could sit with them for hours reading about the old shops and hotels. The descriptives are off the charts. Read this one on Saunton Sands – “Its ‘golden sands sparkled o’er with gems of broken shells of pearly hue’ constitute a perfect stretch of shore”. Imagine the kids reading that in wikipedia!!!
Although led with a surf cover, there isn’t much written about it inside, but there are a few good ads, as below.
Lovely cover image, lovely old ads and wording. And a top book!!
